Saturday, May 2nd 2015, Ruelle Boutique opened as the trendiest new spot in town. Following owners’ (Larry and Kathy Murphy along with their daughter Kate Ruggles) successful purchase of Stowe Street Emporium in 2013, they plan to turn Ruelle Boutique into Waterbury’s hottest new fashion portal, offering unique and affordable women’s styles in clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories. The Murphy’s and Kate are thrilled to offer the residents of Waterbury an additional shopping experience and are looking forward to a positive response from both locals and visitors alike.
In developing the Ruelle business plan, the Murphy’s had specific goals in mind; the primary is offering an attractive new clothing option to the already trending Waterbury community. Having raised their family in Waterbury, Larry and Kathy have great appreciation for the area and are proud to contribute to new business growth and support the thriving economy. “We love Waterbury, and our Emporium customers were asking where else in town they could shop, so we are trying to fill a niche and offer more retail to women in the community,” said Kathy. The Murphy’s have great expectations that Ruelle Boutique will attract customers of all ages from near and far and contribute to the area’s touristic appeal.
The Murphy’s have a prosperous business history including their most notable success with Discovery Map (formerly Resort Maps), the familiar Vermont advertising / promotional tourist maps that are now successfully franchised throughout the U.S. Their daughter, Kate Ruggles, was hired into the family business in 2010 following her studies at Savannah College of Art and Design. With Kate’s previous retail experience and Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, the Murphy’s are looking forward to another prosperous business endeavor. Along with the new store they will continue to offer their current and well established clothing lines for both men and women at the Stowe Street Emporium.
